Preferred Education

Doctoral degree in Social Studies education or a related field from an accredited program and institution (Advanced ABD status-the doctorate must be completed by August 31, 2017). Capacity for successful teaching and research at the university level and commitment to working with diverse populations; and Candidates with experience in all areas of Social Studies are encouraged to apply; we are especially interested in those with experience with P-6 topics in Social Studies and the preparation of certified Elementary and Early Childhood Social Studies teachers.

Preferred Experience Requirements

Experience working with diverse populations.
Experience and interest in teaching with technology.
Experience in supervision of pre-service teachers in schools.
Demonstrated interest in establishing school-university partnerships.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Training and professional teaching experience in History, Social Studies Education or Elementary Education with a specialization in social studies.
Two years of successful teaching of Social Studies in K-12 settings.
Successful teaching experience in History or Social Studies at the university level. Demonstrated commitment (i.e. professional affiliations, scholarly contributions, service) to the field.

Training and experience in comprehensive social studies education that may include STEM fields.Two years of successful teaching of Social Studies in K-12 settings.Successful teaching experience in math education at the university level. Demonstrated commitment (i.e. professional affiliations, scholarly contributions, service) to math education-sustainability and environmental education.
