Preferred Education

Doctoral degree in Counselor Education or a related field from an CACREP-accredited program (Advanced ABD status—the doctorate must be completed by December 31, 2017.) Capacity for successful teaching and research at the university level and commitment to working with diverse populations.

Preferred Experience Requirements

Training and experience in School Counseling or Counselor Education. Two years of successful teaching and/or counseling experience in K-12 settings.
Successful teaching experience in School Counseling or Counselor Education at the university level. Demonstrated commitment (i.e. professional affiliations, scholarly contributions, service) to Counselor Education. Experience working with diverse populations. Experience and interest in teaching with technology. Experience in supervision of interns in school settings.
Demonstrated interest in establishing school-university partnerships.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

The position requires a doctorate in Counselor Education, preferably from a CACREP-accredited program and demonstrated commitment to effective teaching and ethical supervision, a substantive research agenda, and professional service and leadership. The position involves teaching graduate face-to-face and online courses in the Master’s Degree Program, pursuing external funding, coordination and maintenance of outreach activities with school district partners; experience with program revision/development. Candidates should have, or be eligible for, relevant school counseling credentials according to the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors.
